Dr. Steven Reinecke gave me a detailed explanation about my sudden condition. I was really scared about it because it was something I was expecting as I got older but not in my 44s at all. He performed a laser procedure to repair 3 holes in my retina and He told me that it wasn’t a retinal detachment as I thought. So He did it right away and even He told me as the days go by I would be better I started feeling relieved a couple hours later of the procedure. I am very grateful with Dr. Reinecke and the staff in general.

I recently had surgery on my cornea about four months ago and I wanted to share my experience about the surgery and regarding the moderate sedation that a lot of people get nervous about and I want to give some reassurance. So my surgery was in September to remove nodules, and calcium deposits from the cornea and that surgery was in the afternoon and I would have moderate sedation which means I would still be technically awake and be able to respond. That may be a little bit nervous because I wasn’t gonna be fully asleep, but I would be still pretty sedated and be able to speak to the doctor or hear what they’re saying. But I’ll keep going. My surgeon was Dr. Bowman and he is an excellent doctor. He’s very good at telling you what to expect, but in a very easy way, where you’re able to understand it, and why the treatment is needed, and Etc. So I was in the preoperative area, and I was a little bit nervous. And they were going to inject my eye with local anesthesia, but in this case, I was going to be given propofol to induce a sleep, or put me into a deep restful state for about 5 to 10 minutes while they did that which means I would be not even aware of what they’re doing, because I would be under. Then I would wake up but be more relaxed, and I might find myself in the preoperative area or rolling down the hallway to the operating room. And what they actually did was give me versed once I got into the operating room and they were about to start prepping my eye for the surgery. Versa is what they give people through IVs to calm them down before surgery. So I remember waking up after they were done with the injections and the preventative area and I was in the hallway when I woke up and I found myself moving on the stretcher, and they were wheeling me to the operating room. I was still a little bit sleepy for sure, but I can remember everything that was going on around me and I was aware. And I remember going into the operating room and they parked the stretcher as my surgeon was greeting me and the operating room seemed pretty big and it acted a lot in there and they were getting equipment ready. And my surgeon asked me to turn my head and so I did, and I found myself a little more comfortable actually but then I began to get a little bit dizzy again which probably meant they were giving me versed. once they started pushing it through the IV. Like I said, I remember getting a little bit dizzy but then I cannot remember anything after that. I don’t recall nothing until right after the surgery was over. So I can assure you if they give you that medication for moderate sedation, there’s a very good chance you will not remember anything at all that happened and therefore, you will think you’ve been asleep. and that also makes the time seem much quicker. this means I don’t even remember the doctor talking to me during surgery. I don’t remember anything that happened at all from when they were cleaning my eyes because the medication was given to me just before hand. And then the next thing I remember, after that medication was given is the unlocking the stretcher and me going off to recovery. And I thought wow. I don’t even remember what happened at all. This is amazing. And therefore, I was able to experience no memory at all from right before the surgery to right after. The good thing, your eye is numb too. everybody there was very nice from the front to the back. So if I ever have to get another surgery involving my eyes, I’m coming right back to this place. so that’s my review on my very smooth surgery experience.

I've seen Dr Steven Reinecke since 2019, for surgeries, treatments and follow up visits due to a detached retina. It's been a long, slow process and during this time he has been kind, caring, considerate, and very knowledgeable and encouraging.
I'm blessed to have discovered him and his office. I trust him completely and have received nothing but the best care.
I've also been twice to the surgery center at the Eye Institute and have received top notch care from everyone on the team.
I highly recommend the Eye Institute and all those who are there to help you.
It is worth the 2 hour drive each and every time even when the entire visit is usually less than an hour each time.
There's no better place in North Texas.

I was here on time at 11 am for my surgery. At 12:10, they finally had me fill out paperwork. It’s 12:21 and i’m still in the waiting room. I haven’t even been registered yet. Update - once I got through the confused check-in process, the care before and after the sugary was exceptional. My nurse was 5 stars. The guy who wheeled me downstairs after the surgery was great. They need help with the check-in desk and communication with the doctors’ office on scheduling.

Everyone here was friendly from check in to registration to the nurse who was preparing me for the surgery and kept me company until the anesthesiologist and my surgery Doctor were ready to take me to the OR. The recovery nurse Charity on the other hand was very rude and unpleasant to wake up to. I wouldn’t recommend her overseeing anyone coming out of surgery. Overall experience was a 4/5 for that reason.

Service is so slow, it’s not a medical office I would recommend for diabetics.

Awful place. They cheat Medicare and Medicaid in the optical shop. So much fraud. I wonder if the doctors are aware of what the optical shop does that is so illegal! I have reported it to the board.

The Dr’s and staff at this location are truly beyond unprofessional and rude. You are only a number here and they don’t attempt to hide that. If you’re in pain, please don’t waste your hope, time, or money at this place. Find anywhere else and you’ll receive a better quality of care across the board.
