The whole team here from the Doctors to PT/OT the nurses, techs, cafeteria crew blew my mind with exceptional care. My neuro surgeon Dr.Prasarn suggested I attend TIRR and am so so glad I did.
To name a few of my favs… Dr Hernandez and Dr Joseh, Dr Lin and Dr. Sam …. They were the most compassionate drs I have ever met. Lauren B and Zan with PT/OT…. These ladies really worked me but also equipped me with skills to take home and continue to improve myself. Nurses: Dani, Sam, Katrina and Kia Li were the best!! But to be honest pretty much almost every nurse I had was amazing. Dani even tried to recruit me to come work with her at TIRR
Techs: Terry, Ojo, Mohammed, Rose and Helen -all amazing!
I worked harder than I have ever worked even before my spinal cord injury. I have never been so sore, thanks Zan! ? Jay from the Dietary cafeteria crew was the sweetest person. I absolutely loved her!
Do yourself a favor and if you or a loved one is in need of incredible rehab care, come to TIRR.
I am a nurse and felt like I was at home here.

Much love to the whole crew! ?

What can I say? TIRR is the most bang for your buck for a spinal surgery patient like me. Marie the PT has calculated my weight and limitations before every session and makes sure my safety is most vital while I was there. Sarah the OT shown me a professional standard with a smile when she helps me build my balancing and strength. Medical staff is on point with my condition and meds needed to take before going through my sessions.
It is not to say rehab was easy because of course it's hard to go through the process gaining your formal strength. It is what you make out of your stay and mentality is important for rehabilitation. My experience here at TIRR was made me feel I was not alone in my quest to recover spinal surgery. Excellent instructions and makes you feel like they're good friends who want to help pick you up when you're down.

I'm stoked for my outpatient visit coming up

My mother had a stroke in January of 2024. We were very happy with TIRR except for the refusal of case management to provide referrals to care post discharge. My mother was assigned to a case manager who refused to help us - it was extremely unprofessional and disappointing.

TIRR, is where I did my rehabilitation after my fatal car accident, when my oldest brother died. This was Christmas Day of 1981and my brother died on April 1st of 1982. When I was transferred to TIRR, I was only 15 years old and just woke up out of my closed head injury ?. I was a model for TIRR in the Texas Medical magazine and was praised for my artwork. I learned how to drive with hand controls their in Downtown Houston and exercise with long leg braces. After 42 years, not a day goes by of my memories of waking up and starting my life over again. Do they still have transfer class to the Herman Park Zoo? This was one of my favorite things to do, while in TIRR. They also had MAD day, modified awareness day, where certain celebrities came to visit the patients. My social worker was the best and possibly responsible for the activities, but had her own issues, bless her heart. She was dating a radio DJ and my doctor found her unresponsive. Still trying to accomplish my goals with my book. Just writing this helped me feel better and grateful ☺️. Thank you TIRR for my past adventure. This is me in highschool on Initiation day as a senior in highschool. A freshman pulling my wheelchair 1984.

My Dad was lucky to go to TIRR inpatient. He went in on a stretcher and walked out. It was amazing. He could not even sit up when he arrived. I am so grateful for everyone on there. All the PT, OT, speech therapy, physiologists, nurses, nurses assistants and drs are so amazing.

Mediacl malpractice, patient fell. Hospital staffs and nurses was no attended for 9 mins after accident and notified by telemonitor. If you are family of patients watch out. They dont care patients. They just come there and work for money, paycheck, and their own benefits. No professionalism. Watch out!!! PCA will show you guys that dont want take care of patient. You may get recommanded here bc they are the best hospital for tbi, it is just bc surgeons, pt, ot, speech therapists are good. Which means they only care for durin total 3 hours of class and therapy. Rest of 21 hours, they need to change all nursing staffs and pca to who has professionalism.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. So many issues…nurses not knowing how to read prescriptions, employees stealing patient property, nurses refusing ordered treatment. No one knows how to put a TLSO on a patient properly, a therapy manager(JJ) going as far as shoving a towel in one side and not even tightening the other. The photos were taken after I asked 3 therapists to help me fit his TLSO and collar properly and they refused. I had to call 911 to get my husband out of there after they destroyed his mental health with poor quality care.
